Sheffield Academy of Young Leaders

A big congratulation goes to 18 members of the SAYLs team who have been picked to be Volleyball courtside assistants at the 2012 London Olympics!  The 18 were chosen by SAYLs staff based on their commitment to SAYLs since they had been part of the Academy, they had to be in a particular age range to be able to be eligible for selection.  The 18 previously travelled down to the LOCOG headquarters at Canary Wharf in London on the 18 December 2011.  They went to the Young Games Makers selection day for Volleyball and competed against 12 other teams on the day.  They were set a number of challenges including creating an advert and building a unique and creative tower.  The 18 were assessed on their communication skills, team work skills and various other things.  After a long hard day the team set off on their way back home where they were awaiting the news.

They managed to be selected as one of the top 3 teams and beat off the rest of the competition to gain a once in a life time opportunity and be part of the London 2012 Olympics.  Congratulations to everyone who took part.  Your hard work and dedication has paid off.
