Australia vs. Pakistan International Test Match

The Australia vs. Pakistan International Test Match was the first Major Event available to our new Bronze Young Leaders... and with SAYLs Team Leader Mentor Meg, current SAYLs Young Leaders Jack, Jake and Liam, 11 new Bronze Young Leaders (Matt, Kirsty, Phil, Ash, Hayley, Lewis, Jade, Tyler, Chris, Reuben and Jemma) completed the TEAM to travel to Headingley.

At 05:30 many eyes were still glued together but we met on time at the Sheffield Train Station ready to get set on our journey.  By 06:45 we landed in Leeds our connecting train a tad late at 07:10 however we still managed to make into the stadium around 07:30am on time to meet Alison and the team from the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

Yorkshire Cricket Board Cricket Academy Young Leaders T-Shirts were sported (which were being sold for £10 in the store... each!) by all our Young Leaders, very proud to be wearing the badge of their home county.

Roles began with merchandise selling and general roles within the stadium preparing for what we hoped would be a huge crowd to see two of the top cricketing nations battle it out.  Unfortunately come 10:30 and first bowl time, the stadium was rather empty, most likely due to the overcast black clouds that threatened to ruin everyone’s day.

After being equipped with boxes of crisps, coffee and more the Young Leaders were aloud onto the pitch at players lunch break to oversee a Kwik Cricket tournament which everyone did excellently.  The little joker Ash was cracking jokes left right and centre, with the Arches duo of Lewis and Matt brightening everyone’s day throughout, each and every one of the Young Leaders did a fantastic job and contributed brilliantly.

'Thanks Jay, Meg, Tom and the SAYLs team I really enjoyed it on Wednesday and hope you did too.'
Phil, New Bronze Young Leader.

'Thanks for yesterday it was really good.'
Kirsty, New Bronze Young Leader.

'A big thank you for your care and attention to detail with the kids yesterday. Once again a big thank you.  Tyler really enjoyed it.'
New Bronze Young Leader Parent.

'Thank You to the Young Leaders who attended they did a great job.'
Alison,
Yorkshire Cricket Board.
